Dark Refuge is the sixth installment of the Shattered Kingdoms series and picks up directly where book five left off。 In this book, we are given the back stories of some of the other characters mentioned in the series, and gain a better understanding of why they are the way they are。 It amazes me how quickly 500+ pages can go by when you have such an interesting story。 The author knows high fantasy and has created an intricate world that never falters on detail。 Everything is easily imaginable b Dark Refuge is the sixth installment of the Shattered Kingdoms series and picks up directly where book five left off。 In this book, we are given the back stories of some of the other characters mentioned in the series, and gain a better understanding of why they are the way they are。 It amazes me how quickly 500+ pages can go by when you have such an interesting story。 The author knows high fantasy and has created an intricate world that never falters on detail。 Everything is easily imaginable by the reader and you become enraptured with the story and characters。 。。。more

The book starts off right where the last one ended。 I love when authors do that! The adventure starts right away and your left wondering what’s gonna happen next。 It was a very well written book and I’m sad that there is only one more book in this series because I love following these characters!

Another great read from an author who doesn't disappoint。 The plot thickens as the final battle draws near and the allies unite。 Meanwhile, the darkness and the evil magic of the Dragon King are spreading as the mystery surrounding Gandrett is slowly being revealed。 Another great read from an author who doesn't disappoint。 The plot thickens as the final battle draws near and the allies unite。 Meanwhile, the darkness and the evil magic of the Dragon King are spreading as the mystery surrounding Gandrett is slowly being revealed。 。。。more

This is the 6th book in the Shattered Kingdom series by the amazing Angelina j Steffort。 Let me tell you this packed a punch。 It was epic high fantasy romance at its best。 You must read these in order to see how this story unfolds。 So if you haven’t checked this series out, I highly recommend you start now。 So many amazing characters in this series, and you get the perfect amount of time spent on each, progressing their journeys。 It’s difficult to pick a favourite, as they are all going through This is the 6th book in the Shattered Kingdom series by the amazing Angelina j Steffort。 Let me tell you this packed a punch。 It was epic high fantasy romance at its best。 You must read these in order to see how this story unfolds。 So if you haven’t checked this series out, I highly recommend you start now。 So many amazing characters in this series, and you get the perfect amount of time spent on each, progressing their journeys。 It’s difficult to pick a favourite, as they are all going through their individual trials and form of suffering。 The world building is constantly growing and developing with some huge shocks along the way。 At some point everyone is going to meet up and it will be explosive! Can’t wait for more in this series! Nothing less than 5/5 stars。 If you love high fantasy romance, you will be in heaven with this series。 。。。more

"Dark Refuge ” is the second to last installment in Angelina J。 Steffort’s epic high fantasy excellent series “Shattered Kingdom”。 Gandrett Brayton’s quest from an acolyte in the Order of Vala, attuned to deprivation and training from a very young age to be a fighting warrior for the Order, through Savior of the Fae to whatever is going to happen in this book*** is one of the most interesting stories ever written in the genre, and without a doubt the best one this side of the millennium border… "Dark Refuge ” is the second to last installment in Angelina J。 Steffort’s epic high fantasy excellent series “Shattered Kingdom”。 Gandrett Brayton’s quest from an acolyte in the Order of Vala, attuned to deprivation and training from a very young age to be a fighting warrior for the Order, through Savior of the Fae to whatever is going to happen in this book*** is one of the most interesting stories ever written in the genre, and without a doubt the best one this side of the millennium border… I really don’t need to say more, do I? and I wont 😉 I will not ever tell you what is happening in the book, I…will… not。。 😊, I had so much fun reading it, I couldn’t possibly take that experience from you 😉。 Is a wonderful journey from the very first chapter until the very last sentence。It goes without saying but it’s nevertheless worth repeating, and I’ll keep on doing it 😊: Angelina J。 Steffort writing style is superb, fluid, enthralling and captivating, masterfully tying character development with action and rich descriptions of Neredyn into a captivating story, populated by original, and fully fleshed-out characters, each and every one unique and rich in multidimensional layers, with a pivotal role to play in the wide canopy of events。 Even intended secondary characters’ (Gorman, Taghi, Drew, Kepha, or even the Meister and Liri) are as elaborated as any of our heroes, all of them authentic and very ‘real’, as they fill our hearts with awe or make your blood boil, which is exactly what they are supposed to do, feeling like real flesh-and-blood friends and companions in real life。 There is in fact, the fine humour and perfect chemistry between the characters what really makes this series truly exceptional。 Of course every great tale has a downside… it’s ends eventually, don’t worry though, this is not the end, there is still a book ahead of us, and I can’t hardly wait to read it 😊。 I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this series, and it really doesn’t matter, what it matters is how good the story is, and as stories go, this one is not just good, it is extraordinary, the kind of tale that lingers forever on your mind and will evermore live on your heart。The Milky Way could go dark, and there still won’t be enough ⭐ to rate this series 。。。more

Excellent writing。 Diverting and exciting。 All of the allies are working to gather their forces against the cult of shygon, this book follows their parallel stories。 I loved reading about Gandrett and Nehelon as they learn to trust eachother and forge their path ahead。 We got to learn more about Drew and Valyn and Mackenzie and Brax。 Great characters。

This was definitely my favourite installment in the series so far! I was worried that it would be mostly set up for the last book but it is definitely filled with action and character development。 In my review of the last book, I said I was excited to see some really great representation in the characters。 Without spoiling anything, this has been done really well and has only become more interesting and notable。 I am so excited to see how Angelina develops this in the next book。 As always, our p This was definitely my favourite installment in the series so far! I'm kicking myself for not starting this book as soon as I got it! All of Angelina's books are so unique, so riveting and Nehelon, Gandrett, Joshua and Addie are dream characters。 The emotions are rampant from the start of this book, my emotions included! Oh poor Joshua, what he's endured, what he's been forced to do by the entity invading him! As for Addie, OMG Addie! My heart bleeds for her, her struggles are so dire, yet she can do nothing to free herself。 And Armand, what a stunning characte I'm kicking myself for not starting this book as soon as I got it! His growth has been spectacular。 Then there's Mackenzie, Muriel is sooooo likeable, even though she's technically the competition。 Oh boy, I cannot for the life of me decide who my favourite character is! They are ALL so wonderful, so intricate, so Interesting! This book spins such an intricate tale, one can almost equate it to a spider lazily spinning a web, that has it's prey constantly within it's grasp, playing with it's food, drawing them into the centre of her web。 It's an incredibly colourful world that goes back and forth between the different parts of the realm, from various POV's, whilst at the same time connects them all。 Even though they are scattered all over the realm, they have the same goal to accomplish, raise an army, defeat the Dragon King。 Myths are discovered to be real, much to their horror, yet another complication and adversary in their quest。 As if that's not enough, they all have to deal with their relationships, which are complex to say the least! What was really heart warming is how their emotions are worn on their sleeves, as they battle both emotions and duty。 From the start of this series, to this, the latest book, expect the unexpected! Expect to be sympathetic, expect to be horrified, expect to be shattered。 The only thing you can expect, is that you won't feel complacent! 。。。more

Dark Refuge is the 6th book in Angelina Steffort’s Shattered Kingdom series。 This book starts with a bang and is fast paced。 It reveals the back stories and histories from the main characters and the world of Nerydyn, giving us answers to the many questions we have been looking forward to。 Ending on an uncomfortable cliffhanger, I'm seriously looking forward to and can’t wait for the last book in the series。This is a series I highly recommend for lovers of fantasy and romance。I have received an Dark Refuge is the 6th book in Angelina Steffort’s Shattered Kingdom series。 This book starts with a bang and is fast paced。 It reveals the back stories and histories from the main characters and the world of Nerydyn, giving us answers to the many questions we have been looking forward to。 Ending on an uncomfortable cliffhanger, I'm seriously looking forward to and can’t wait for the last book in the series。This is a series I highly recommend for lovers of fantasy and romance。I have received an eARC in exchange for an honest review 。。。more

I received an eArc of this book for an honest review:Dark refuge is hands down the best instalment of the Shattered Kingdom series。 After carefully building such an intricate world and developing such meaningful characters, readers are finally gifted a book where all of the different storylines begin to add up and mean something significant。The pacing, for starters, was excellent in this one。 Much like the characters, readers don’t get a chance to breathe between one scene and the next with a ne I received an eArc of this book for an honest review:Dark refuge is hands down the best instalment of the Shattered Kingdom series。 After carefully building such an intricate world and developing such meaningful characters, readers are finally gifted a book where all of the different storylines begin to add up and mean something significant。The pacing, for starters, was excellent in this one。 Much like the characters, readers don’t get a chance to breathe between one scene and the next with a new suprise in every corner。 It made this an excellent fast paced read, and I found myself sitting at hours at a time to eat it up! After initially disliking the Tadgi and Mackenzie arc of the series (because isn’t there at least one pov in a multi pov we all dislike), I’m finally understanding the need for these characters to be developed the way they are and am now really loving their adventure in Neredyn! Although… I have to say I wasn’t fond of being left on another cliffhanger… but that’s my only qualm with this story!Overall, thoroughly enjoyed, and am so excited to read the final book… but so not looking forward to saying goodbye to these characters ! 。。。more
